Black History Month Fact #3

In 1909 the NAACP was founded on February 12th....the birthday of President Lincoln.  

Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation during the American Civil War that freed slaves in 10 states (about 90% of the slaves in the US at the time).  

That was in 1863, however the outlaw of slavery came in 1865 with the addition of the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution.  Good Job Mr. President :)
