The Friendship Nine


During the McCrory's lunch counter sit-ins in 1961 as apart of the civil rights movement these nine college students attending Friendship College in South Carolina chanted "Jail, No Bail"
The message they were sending to the public was that they rather be arrested and sit in jail than to accept racial injustice.  It began with ten students at first but when they were arrested one choose bail out of fear of losing his athletic scholarship to attend the college at the time.


Just last year the were celebrated marking the 50th Anniversary of the protest.  To think just 50 years ago my skin color was not accepted in all 50 states...SCARY
